Offering an unforgettable experience for young and old alike, the Zoo opened its doors on the first of August 1958, with its special natural features. The picturesque Fejes Valley area features traditional zoo animals such as exotic big cats, brightly coloured waterfowl, always curious proboscis bears and delightful little pandas. In the Fejes Valley there is a uniquely designed Kid’s Jungle Playhouse and Terrarium, where adventure-seeking lurkers can crawl and climb to their liking.
In the upper part of Gulya Hill you can find the latest developments, such as one of the most beautiful and largest Africa savannah catwalks in Hungary, where visitors can admire Hungary largest family of rhinoceroses with a wide mouth of five people. In 2014, the Elephant Park was also opened, where three elephant bulls were housed, and a project was completed to show aquatic life, where visitors can get an insight into the life of calf seals and pope-eyed penguins. In July 2018, the Zoo’s new Savannah Playground of Africa opened, where children can get a glimpse of Africa’s unique fauna, exploring the Serengeti National Park. On an adventure boat, they can play out how the first animals arrived from Africa to the Veszprém Zoo, test their dexterity on the cable car, jumper and various climbing boards.
